What we are doing
We conduct both use-inspired and fundamental research on mineral resources, aiming to discover new sources and utilize them more efficiently. Our work encompasses the study of geological processes responsible for the formation of ore deposits, as well as the mineralogical and geochemical characterization of minerals and materials to assess the availability of critical resources - to secure the raw materials essential for the future.
Why mineral resources are important
Mineral resources serve as the foundation of modern technologies and play a vital role in our daily lives. We encounter them everywhere—in mobile phones, cars, buildings, and solar cells—making them indispensable for everyday activities. The global demand for these resources continues to rise, driven by factors such as population growth, the energy transition, and the increasing reliance on high-tech applications. Consequently, mineral resources are essential for advancing toward a more climate-friendly and sustainable future.
